



Obituary of Joyce Ann Alsum
Joyce Alsum of Loveland, CO went to be with her heavenly Savior on Sunday May 21st following a lengthy illness. Joyce was born on September 25th, 1946, to Jacob and Tillie Fischer in Oak Lawn, IL. She graduated from Chicago Christian High School in 1964. She went to Trinity College while also working at Resthaven Nursing Home in Palos Heights, Il. She then worked at Monticello Nursing Home in Oak Lawn, Il coordinating activities for its residents. She met her future husband Milton Alsum during that time. They were married on August 26th, 1966.
She moved to Loveland, CO following her marriage to Milton where she became a homemaker in 1966. She resided in Loveland as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother for the remainder of her earthly pilgrimage.
At the time of her death Joyce was a faithful member of Emmaus Orthodox Presbyterian Church of Fort Collins where she was a professing member. She and her husband both enjoyed the weekly Sunday services and Wednesday night Bible studies. She was particularly grateful for the fellowship of the saints, especially as they visited and ministered to her needs during the last years of her life.
She is survived by her husband Milton Alsum of Loveland, CO; her two children – Patrick (Margaret) Alsum of Streamwood, Il and Amy (Scott) Bonzelaar of Hudsonville, MI; grandchildren – Kevin (Kayleigh) Bonzelaar, Amanda Bonzelaar, Allyson Alsum, Lance (Kassidy) Bonzelaar, Joseph Alsum and Jason (Brianna) Alsum; siblings – Karen Fischer, Albert (Joyce) Fischer, Louise Fischer, Judy Abel, Jackie (Robert) Hoekstra, Archie Quade and Sandy Alsum as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
A visitation is planned for Joyce between 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 25th. A funeral service is planned for Friday May 26th at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow immediately. Both the visitation and funeral will be held at Viegut Funeral Home of Loveland. Interment will be at Cheyenne National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are all invited.
