Obituary of George William Holling
George William Holling, 56, went home to be with Jesus on June 20, 2023 after a 2 ½ year long, but incredibly life-filled, battle with cancer.
He was born in Denver in 1967 to George “Doug” and Betty Holling. The family moved to Grand Junction, CO where George graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1985. He moved to Glenwood Springs, CO in 1987 with the love of his life, Lisa Russell. They both graduated from Colorado Mountain College in 1989, then the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1992. The happy couple wed in July, 1992.
After working in business for a few years, George continued his education at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry where he earned his DDS degree in 2000 and then completed a residency in Periodontics. In 2003, the family returned to Colorado and George began practicing dentistry in Loveland. He loved his patients and his staff and they loved him!
George enjoyed life to the fullest. His favorite activities included wildlife photography, bicycling, fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, scuba diving, and 4-wheeling. He even tried sky diving last summer! Most important to George, however, was his family and his faith. He was an incredibly devoted father and husband. A member of Good Shepherd Church, he also served in Kairos Prison Ministry for many years and formed many life-long, special friendships with his brothers and sisters in Christ.
He is survived by: his wife, Lisa, and their children - Aaron and Allison Holling, Jack and Max Holling, Nicole Holling, and Steven Holling; his parents, Doug and Betty Holling; siblings, Greg (Pam), Cynthia (Andy), and Cathy (Mike); 7 of the best nieces and nephews anybody ever had; and his dear mother-in-law, Karen (Al) Grasso. The family is grateful for the continuing support of their community.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 28th at Viegut Funeral Home 1616 Lincoln Avenue Loveland, CO from 5-5:30 with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 5:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kairos Prison Ministry (https://www.kairosofcolorado.org/donate.html) or Pathways Hospice (https://pathways-care.org/ways-to-give).
