Gladys Marie Meyer Mielke, 87, of Loveland, Colorado, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on July 2, 2023.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4 pm on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Viegut Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Albrecht, officiating.
Gladys Marie Meyer was born on May 28, 1936, in Carter, South Dakota, to William John and Bessie Mae Reed Meyer. She married Alvin Kenneth Mielke on February 1, 1953 in Springfield, Minnesota.
Gladys and Al Mielke raised 4 children together in North Mankato, Minnesota. Gladys was a homemaker first and foremost. As the children grew she was also employed by Mankato Lutheran Home for the elderly. She worked as both a nurses' assistant and a rehabilitation aid during her 20 years of employment at Mankato Lutheran Home. After moving to Loveland, Colorado in October, 1979, she continued her care for the elderly by working for Colorado Home Helps for 10 years. She furthered her education by attending florist school and hair stylist school, earning certificates in both. Then she attended Massage Therapist school and earned her certificate in Massage Therapy. Gladys Mielke continued her care for others by starting her own Massage Therapy business in her Loveland home in 1992. Many of her customers were the elder generation. She retired from her business in 2018.
Gladys Mielke was a longstanding member of the Loveland chapter of Women's Aglow. Through Women's Aglow she hosted Bible Studies in her home and helped feed the homeless. Gladys nourished her deep faith and walk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by attending church throughout her life. She enjoyed attending Bethlehem Lutheran Church while living in Mankato, Minnesota. In Loveland, Colorado she attended King of Glory Lutheran Church, Resurrection Fellowship, and Christ's Church of the Rockies.
Gladys took great pride and joy in preparing meals for her husband and family. Entertaining guests in her home was a pleasure for her to provide for others. Gladys also enjoyed flower gardening and making beautiful flower arrangements to share with friends and family. Walking and RV camping in the Colorado mountains with her family were favorite pastimes.
Gladys Mielke was a prayer warrior who prayed for her family and friends often. She genuinely cared about other people's spiritual journeys. Gladys will be remembered for her true servant's heart.
