



Obituary of Dennis Ray Chambers
Dennis Ray Chambers, 72, of Loveland, passed away on July 15, 2023. He was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, Uncle and friend.
Dennis was born on April 27, 1951, to LaRoy and Betty Chambers in Des Moines, Iowa. His family moved to Berthoud, Colorado in September of 1964. Dennis graduated from Berthoud High School in 1969.
In June 1969, Dennis met Peggy Tuxhorn while he was working at the Standard gas station in Berthoud. Dennis won Peggy’s heart with a single wink. Dennis and Peggy were married on January 31, 1971, and went on to have three children: Deana, Scott and Travis.
Dennis dedicated a large part of his life serving the Berthoud community in many roles. He was employed with the Town of Berthoud as a wastewater treatment plant operator. Retiring from the Town after serving the community for several decades. He volunteered with the Berthoud Fire Protection District from August 17, 1981, through March 12, 1997. He took great pride in raising money for the Muscular Dystrophia Association (MDA), organizing and driving the fill the boot campaign for many years. As a retired volunteer firefighter, he took pride in his involvement with the Caretakers of Tradition, a nonprofit organization which works for the preservation and education of the volunteer fire service. Dennis also served as a reserve police office with Berthoud Police Department in 1971 and 1972.
Dennis had a passion and interest in cars, especially hotrods. His favorite car was his 1971 Plymouth Road Runner. Dennis played the drums and the steel guitar in his younger years. Peggy ran an in-home daycare for years and Dennis loved each of those kids as his own, looking forward to the end of the workday when he would come home to a house full of kids, always ready to play games or read stories with them. Each of those kids and their families left an impression on his heart.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brother Barry; Father-in-law Ivan Tuxhorn; Mother-in-law Alberta Simmonds Tuxhorn; Brother-in-law Johnny Tuxhorn. He is survived by his Wife, Peggy; his children Deana Chambers (Mike Grasseschi), Scott Chambers (Rachael), Travis Chambers (Katie); three grandchildren Matt (Jamie), Shania, Kailee; one great grandson Camron; his brother Roy Chambers (Cindy); his sister Karry Casias (Roger); Brother-in-law Larry Tuxhorn (Sharon); sister-in-law Margo Tuxhorn; numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 10:00am at Greenlawn Cemetery in Berthoud, Colorado. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Pathways Hospice or the Berthoud Caretakers of Tradition.
