Obituary of Mary Carolyn Coon

Mary Carolyn Coon, 85, of Loveland, CO, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023, at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. Mary was born in Penn Yan, NY, on July 1, 1938, the daughter of Raymond and Harriet Alexander.

Mary worked at Penn Yan Express before she and her husband, Jim Coon, moved to Loveland in 1976. She started a property management company in Loveland that she ran successfully for many years.

Mary was a wonderful wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed. Mary had a caring, supportive nature and a great sense of humor. She loved many arts and crafts, including ceramics, painting, and quilting. She was also an avid collector of all things cow. Mary’s legacy includes the many beautiful quilts that she made for family and friends as well as those she donated to charity.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Coon. She is survived by her sisters Linda Smith of Colorado Springs, CO, and Lucy Alexander of Savannah, NY; sister-in-law Penny Alexander (Joe) of Penn Yan, NY; brothers John Alexander (Carol) of Bellona, NY, Lee Alexander of Beverly Hills, Florida, and James Alexander (Darlene) of Ithaca, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

At Mary’s request, no service will be held. Instead, her wish was that everyone simply remember all the good times. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Colorado Mini Schnauzer Rescue. Go to www.viegutfuneralhome.com for condolences.
