Charlotte Mallett

Obituary of Charlotte Ann Mallett

In Loving Memory of Charlotte Ann Mallett

Charlotte Ann Mallett of Loveland, Colorado entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 3, 2023 after a long illness at Pathways Hospice in Fort Collins.

Charlotte was born August 22, 1942 in Reading, Pennsylvania, the youngest of 7 children... all deceased with the exception of her eldest sister Dolores.

Charlotte met her future husband, Doug Mallet in Long Beach, California while visiting a friend she grew up with in Pennsylvania. Doug and her friend’s husband were both in the Navy, which was how the paths of one from Colorado and the other from Pennsylvania crossed. Charlotte and her friend spent their first day walking about the city’s waterfront when Doug and a fellow sailor on liberty were walking the same street. They invited the two girls to a local ice cream shop whereupon Doug’s friend discovered Charlotte’s friend was married. He quickly lost interest, but the girl Doug had his eyes on was available and two months later they were married… a marriage that endured for 61 ½ years.

Doug and Charlotte remained in the Southern California region for seven years after his discharge from the Navy in 1964. Some time was spent in Colorado, but California drew them back because of better employment opportunities. During that time they gave birth to three daughters, Debbie (Deborah), Dolores and Donna (now deceased-2017).

In 1971, the family returned to Doug’s hometown in the Denver region with Doug working primarily in construction as inspired by the family’s Mallett Roofing business (started by his father Calvin in 1948). The family later relocated the business to Northern Colorado focused

largely on the townships of Berthoud and Loveland for some 30 years until Doug’s retirement at age 77.

Charlotte will be remembered with loving enthusiasm by her immediate family and by her 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Charlotte’s life, passions and commitments centered primarily on being a stronghold and retreat for whatever anyone in her family needed or desired. She put them first in all that she did.

But her greatest joy remained to be her husband Doug. Hundreds of family clients will testify to the fact her primary delight was working on-site with him.

A funeral service will be held at Viegut Funeral Home, 1616 N Lincoln Ave, Loveland Colorado on October 14, 2023 at 2:00pm. A reception will follow at the Viegut Reception Center located in the same building. Drinks and food will be offered and all are encouraged to join in for a time of reflection and fellowship.
